Christmas at WISDOM

Merry Christmas from the children at WISDOM!

Through the donations of many, each of the 350+ children at WISDOM Community School received a gift for Christmas. The boys got a Hot Wheels car and the girls were given a hand-made doll.

The Sewin' & Stuffin' group at Putnam City Baptist Church made dolls for each girl!

Developing WISDOM

Wisdom is looking at life from God’s point of view. Chuck Swindoll

Wisdom can come at any age. It's inspiring to see a young one see life as God sees it.

The Living Well team was at the airport, May 29, 2013. They were gathering up, ready to check in for their long flight to Zambia.

The family of one of the women was there - husband and two little girls. When the 10-year-old daughter was asked what she thought about her mom going to Africa, she didn't say a word, tears just welled up in her eyes.
Allison

Her mother had a life-changing experience and shared all about it with her family. When that 10-year-old, Allison, had her 11th birthday the next March, she didn't want presents. Instead she asked all of her friends and family if they would donate to WISDOM Community School instead.

Allison's family and friends donated generously for her birthday. Allison gave up any dreams she had of more "stuff" for herself, to help poor children in a slum in Africa go to school.

Allison sees life from God's point of view! She is contributing to the development of WISDOM Community School.

That's what it means to "Develop Wisdom" both for a person and for a school!

Growth Spurt

The school is in a growth spurt!

Since January 2012, when LIVING WELL first got involved with the support of WISDOM Community School, student enrollments have increased 150%!

However, the number of teachers has only increased 33%.

YES! We need more teachers!

To support the school, click the DONATE NOW button to the right.

Welcome Children to WISDOM

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them....

And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Jesus in Matthew 18:2,5

Over 300 children are welcomed each day to WISDOM Community School.

More want to come. Most children in this community would rather go to school than stay home, even without parental encouragement!

We need more teachers.

We have an opportunity to hire another teacher with training for the upper level grades. We will soon add grade 7 to the school. We need more funds!

If 10 new people will sponsor a student for a year, we can add another teacher!

Or if one new person will sponsor a teacher, we can add a teacher!

Children of Wisdom in New Classrooms

The upper levels of WISDOM Community School have moved into the new classrooms. We still need more desks for them, so there is adequate space for each child to be able to write. The desks are designed to have 2 children per desk. Our older children have 3-4 per desk. The younger children have 4-6 per desk.

YOU can provide one desk for $50 or all 45 desks for $2250. TO DONATE

CAMP WISDOM 2014

LIVING WELL returned to Wisdom Community School for CAMP WISDOM. The team led 140 children in five days of Bible lessons, singing, crafts, and games. The theme for this year's camp was JESUS: God...Man...Servant....Savior....Friend

New Classrooms! New Needs!

Grades 3-6 have now moved into the new classroom building.

We now have a new need - more desks!

In our classrooms, we share desks. They are built for 2 children to be able to sit comfortably. We have as many as 5 or 6 at some of our desks. WCS now has 305 students with 62 desks.

We need at least 45 more desks as soon as possible. The cost is $2,250.

Electrical Power coming to Wisdom

LIGHTS!!!

Lighting at Wisdom Community School has not been an option until now!

During the last year, electrical power has been run to two homes in the Mwenye Compound. Thanks to the generosity of our American partners, LIVING WELL, we will soon have electricity at WCS.

New Toilets for Children of Wisdom

After the new classroom building began, the government decided that the school needed additional toilet latrines for the students. These latrines were originally part of Phase 3 of the WCS Master Plan.

When raising funds for the Classroom Building #2, which is currently under construction, the new latrines were not included in the funding costs. We are building the latrines "by faith," as we ask the Lord to provide the funds ($2500).  This latrine has better materials and a deeper hole than their current facility.

New Classroom Building is Looking Good at Wisdom Community School

The Walls are going Up!

The concrete block walls on the new Classroom Building #2 are going up! The building is still on schedule. Great progress!
