Water is on the Way for Wisdom Community School!

We are excited that Wisdom Community School will soon have a new borehole with a pump. It will provide clean water all year!

The borehole will be drilled through a partnership between Better World Ministries, Rotary International, Living Well (Bethany, Oklahoma, USA), and Lakeview Baptist Church (Guthrie, Oklahoma, USA).

Special thanks to the congregation at Lakeview Baptist Church for donating the funds to make this water project possible!

Puppets at Wisdom Community School

A team of children at Camp Wisdom put on a puppet show for the other children, their parents, and the community.

After all the others kids went home at the end of the day, Darla Holinsworth and Diane Harris worked with several kids during the week of Camp Wisdom.

Darla wrote the script and learned puppeteering from the expert team at Putnam City Baptist Church. The construction team built a puppet stage for the kids.

The smiling faces of the children on the team with their puppets were delightful. You can see their joy!

The community and the other kids loved the puppet show. We were all very proud of the children of Wisdom who learned how to use puppets!

CAMP WISDOM Games

CAMP WISDOM games brought joy, laughter, team work, and lots of fun!

The games were all new to the children, many were derived from AWANA games. The team brought a game parachute which doubled as a covering for the floor for the kids to sit on, while the team taught lessons and songs.

They had never run three-legged race!

Lunch at CAMP WISDOM

What does it take to feed 120 children and 10 helpers lunch for five days in a row?

4 boiling pots & 4 charcoal fires

PLANNING! And terrific people to help!

Norma McKinney, Oklahoma City, and her two helpers
In Zambia, you can have a kitchen anywhere.

A rice mixture (with soy protein, vegetables, and seasonings) was prepared everyday and served along with fresh oranges.

The kids loved it!

Our goal for the coming year is to serve lunch to the children of Wisdom every school day.

Wisdom Community School Raises the Zambian Flag

Wisdom Community School now has a flagpole. We are proud to display the Zambian flag in front of the school.

This video shows the children of Wisdom singing the Zambian national anthem as the flag is raised for the first time on June 6, 2013.

The children are lead in the national anthem by the school's manager, Rev. Charles Mwila Mutumbala. The flag is raised by Ed Edwards, leader of the Living Well mission team. The mission team built a concrete foundation for the flagpole as part of the installation. The team stands behind the children in observance of the flag raising.
The words to the national anthem are listed below.

Stand and sing for Zambia, proud and free,
Land of work and joy in unity,
Victors in the struggle for the right,
We have won freedom's fight.
All one, strong and free.

Africa is our own motherland,
Fashion'd with and blessed by God's good hand,
Let us all her people join as one,
Brothers under the sun.
All one, strong and free.

One land and one nation is our cry,
Dignity and peace 'neath Zambia's sky,
Like our noble eagle in its flight,
Zambia, praise to thee.
All one, strong and free.

Chorus:
Praise be to God,
Praise be, praise be, praise be,
Bless our great nation,
Zambia, Zambia, Zambia.
Free men we stand
Under the flag of our land.
Zambia, praise to thee!
All one, strong and free.

Living Well Team returns to Wisdom Community School

Ed and Donna Edwards with Living Well returned to Wisdom Community School and brought 16 others in June, 2013.

The team worked on the physical campus, discipled, and trained the teachers, and held Camp Wisdom for 120 of the children.

School given new desks

Wisdom Community School was given 42 new desks by the government!

In the lower grades, the children will have only two at each desk, instead of five or six. The desks are un-assembled. So, over the next few weeks, the desks will be assembled and welded for extra strength and durability.
